been eating very well the past few days. my landlady is catering for a function downtown, and we're getting all the leftovers *grin* there was chicken curry yesterday, and we cooked rice to go along with it (yes, i cooked rice, you can all faint now :p) and the day before there was quiche and apple tart *laugh* not to mention she also gifted us with 2 bottles of wine to make up for her 'clutter' in the kitchen the past 2 weeks. *grin* we have to find a time when everyone's at home to have it *laugh* by everyone, i mean, myself and jieru, linda (Italy), Dwi (Indonesia), Fiona (Scotland :p) and Predrag (Yugoslavia). nice bunch of people =)

may be going to glasgow tonight, not -too- sure, but peiyi's found a way around the fact that she can't get a car, so we may still be going. *shrug* a bit short notice, but it may still be possible *crosses her fingers* train and bus all over scotland. lol.

results are coming out tomorrow.. and they'll be smsed to me at 2am my time, cos it should be 9am in Singapore. *shudder* i'm turning off my cell i think. what an awful time to get news like that. i'm very worried about my plant agro, if i get a C i'm going to be skinned alive. same for PQS. *sigh* still got fairly high hopes for immunology, microbio and biostats, but i may get Bs for a couple of them *sigh* don't think any ADs (distinctions) will be forthcoming though unfortunately. will post about them when i can, cos if i'm going with ZQ, Peiyi etc, i won't have net access til tuesday or summat.

oh, and, i got a awesome pair of boots on sunday. *grin* the heels are like, way high though, which i'm not too sure about, but yea, they're calf length, black and bloody high. brilliant. *grin* and only 15. also bought some stuff from gap. why don't we have gap at home? *sniff!* and besides that, nothing much, except i'm going to have to start counting cells again tomorrow. which sucks. *mutter*

*bounce!*
kay, i'm happy. *grin*
saw a1 yesterday, and it was as expected, completely wonderful *giggle* oh, help, i'm coming over all giggly *sigh* but anyway! it was a signing at WH Smith at Kinnaird Park, and i got there about 4-ish, and it started at 4.15, so they were early for once. *laugh* (it was supposed to start at 4.30pm) so, queued up, and the order they were sitting at the table was Mark, Chris, Paul then Ben. Chris was the first to recognize me, which surprised me somewhat cos i don't really talk to him often, cos he was looking towards the queue when i was almost at the head of it, he was... surprised *laugh* but that was nothing compared to mark's reaction. he looked up and smiled vaguely, like he's programmed to do *cough*, then looked down, then did a double take and said, "Lianne? What are you doing here?" *rofl* that, in itself was worth everything. *laugh* then came a slew of questions from mark and chris, how ya doing (cold, which mark laughed at and said, "i bet you are." cos they're always complaining about how hot it is in singapore *grin*), how long have you been here, how long are you going to be here etc. then paul saw me and gave me an enthusiastic "Babe! How ya doin? Good to see ya!" thing. lol. that was fun. *laugh* he also asked the what are you doing here question. :p ben didn't see me that time, *growl* too busy signing a teddy bear or something *shrug*. so, I went in again. *innocence*

this time, mark was asking how everyone at home was doing. (Fine, Jane says she misses you. :p) etc. the girl behind me was quite pissed off cos I was talking to all three of them at the same time. oops. *evil grin* then i slipped the one photo I had with me, my picture with ben that's in my wallet, under his nose and asked him to sign it, and he looked at it, then looked up and goes, "Hi!!" *laugh* and how're you doing, what are you doing here etc etc. *grin* *sniff* I miss em already. =(

then i think they left for the airport, they have a signing in manchester tomorrow apparently, so yea. *sniff* miss em. *sigh*

the album is good, though at the moment i still kinda prefer the a list. and i hope they're releasing citm in the states instead of make it good, cos seriously it's a better first single i reckon. ah well. i still can't help wishing that they don't make it there, which is plain evil, but because BSB made it, and never ever came back. i don't want a repeat. esp when a1 means so much more to me/us then BSB ever did. *sigh* oh well, we'll see...

well, i said i'd post tomorrow, but it was a saturday and i was too damn lazy to come in. particularly after all the stuff that happened. more on that later.

kay, the dinner. it was basically the entire lab, and i suppose i should give a short intro of em here, simply because it's a sunday morning, i'm in the lab, and i'm bored. so there. :p i'll start with the higher ups, such as they are. my lab has basically 2 supervisors, Dr Peter Doerner and Dr Gwyneth Ingram. they're the ones that are supervising all the PhD and honors students currently here. Both of them are pretty nice *smile* then there's the post doctoral people, Thomas, Kathryn, Karine and Chengxia (who i'm working really closely with, and who is developing my 'china' accent *rofl* my chinese has improved tremendously :p) then the PhD students, Emma (who's really loud, and fun), Miriam, who's also really nice, and I think Sam, though he may be an honours student as well. lol. honours students, Ed (who's seriously gorgeous *laugh*), Marc (very good laugh), and Dirk (half german, half korean, also fairly good looking :p) and as mentioned, maybe Sam.

Anyway, so we went out for dinner. and it was fantastic. not for the food, though that was okay, but because of the conversation. very funny, and very interesting. perhaps because we had so many different nationalities and perhaps cultural differences. i was surrounded by Karine (French), Peter (German), Hawys (Marc's girlfriend, v pretty, and welsh), Marc (sort of English w a bit of French apparently) and Miriam (English). and like a few of them spoke french, (obv) and italian (Hawys is doing a degree in french and italian), and basically, it was really interesting. covered all sorts of topics, and though i was the youngest there by far, i was never made to feel that, well, except after when they were going for drinks and trying to make me go *laugh* but yea, it was fantastic.

the confocal microscope is a right pain. *argh* it's this really expensive microscope that it's -very- complicated and a real pain to use. not to mention peter couldn't even remember some parts, so how'm i suppose to remember em? *panic* and the stain you use is carcinogenic, and the light used are lasers, which can blind you. all in all, quite terrifying, especially since i've never been particularly good at microscopy.

anyway, yesterday was a pretty eventful day. i *adopts posh tone* saw the Queen don't y'know. *grin* but seriously yea, we were walking down to the shops and we saw her drive by in a horse drawn carriage, a parade for her Golden Jubilee coming up next monday. unfortunately, Prince William was nowhere to be seen *pout* but i may have got a pic, which i'll put up if it turns out well.

then, we went to the edinburgh dungeon, which was kind of like a horror house. which, if you know me, was a bad idea to begin with. lol. then, about halfway through "Torture and Disease", I fainted. Lol. Completely passed out. The plaque i was looking at got kinda fuzzy and spotty, and next thing i knew i was propped against a wall surrounded by concerned people. *shakes her head* I think it was the dark and smoke and stuff rather than what I was looking at, which though disgusting, was not particularly scary. *sigh* how embarrassing. though apparently it happens quite often, i wasn't the first that day, and they'd only been open 2 hours. *laugh* so, i let jieru continue with it, and i went and sat at Waverley train station and had a double chocolate soft cookie and people-watched. =) I enjoyed that really. Cos I haven't had much time outide my room by myself, except well, in the lab, so it was nice to sort of sit there and sort out my thoughts without feeling the pressure to 'go do something'.

and the a1 autograph session tomorrow is definitely on apparently, so i'm going to try and sneak out of work early, and go for it. need to ring up wh smith though, like soon. *crosses her fingers* I need to see them :)
