got up this morning feeling very very good, it's FRIDAY! *bounce!* and i have a 10 hour train trip ahead of me tonight, but -anyway- *grin* it's still good *tralala* no more DNA preps either, well, not til monday, cos i've finished the 150 from the 1st transformation, only 90 from the second to go! erm, actually, that's not that great, but hey, at least there's none for today *grin*

found a travel site, which has a listing of places to go and things to do before you die. was seriously inspiring. there're so many places i want to visit, and very very little time to do it in. in the 18 and a half years of my life, i've only done 3 of the things listed, lain on an australian beach, (hey, when your australian hometown is called airlie beach that's not too hard :p), woken to the sound of kookaburras, and spent a week in london. with plans to complete 4 or 5 more within the next year or so.

i've been trying to plan out the next 5 years or so of my life the past few weeks, and the problem is that after next july, it could branch into so many possibilities it's nigh impossible to think beyond the next year. very confusing, rather exhilarating, but still extremely scary.

yes! got my tickets, we're leaving edinburgh at 23.40 for london. overnight train. *sigh* trying to sleep upright again *sigh* oh well, main thing is that we've got the tickets. though it cost jieru 80. they're seriously crazy. S$240 for that distance? *shakes her head* mad.

can't write much today, have to run back and continue my DNA preps. am crossing my fingers that sarah can get out of doing that banana leaves project *shudder* had quite enough of plants so far thanks v much. *sigh*

baaaaaah. because i have a britrail pass i can't book my ticket to Bath on the phone, so i'm going to have to go downtown -again- to try and book a ticket. *mutter* and i think there's no space on the train down to london already, so going to have to take a train to glasgow and try to get on the same one as peiyi. i'm just soooo tired. sick and tired.

doing some more DNA preps, been doing that for about a week now, everyday.. then PCRing them and running them on a gel. baaaaah. i'm getting calluses on my thumb from opening eppendorf tubes :p i'm sure quite a few of my coursemates will know the feeling by now.

oh, but good news, i got my ticket to the Terry Pratchett thing! *bounces around madly* yay!

just been reading some of the singaporean blogs that i used to keep track of when i had my very own computer *sniffle* anyway, it was making me homesick. seems like everything does lately doesn't it? *grin* rhetorical question. however, reading about people going to far east and queensway shopping centre does make me feel more than a little homesick. i actually had this really strong craving to go to far east the other day for some strange reason, considering i don't even like the place at all when i'm home. *ponder* weird. maybe i'm just not cut out for studying overseas? doubt it, maybe cos i'm only here for about 4 mths, and i'm stuck in the lab everyday, without having any real background in what i'm doing at all. *sigh*

and everyone's gone back to school already, the hols are over, and those lucky people are all going through first day lectures, and trying to remember not to flash the ezlink card at the driver *grin michelle* well, except for all the 2nd year bio students, and those courses that take the 6 mth attachment. bah. i want to go back to school! *whine* so much better than working *nod me*

hrm. just got my timetable this afternoon. been posted to 3F02. i'm... not particularly pleased with it, because of various reasons, and various people, but as she said, it's probably better than staying in 01. thing is, i at least had Shannie with me in 01, and Alex and Samuel and Asmini *sigh* oh well, don't think we have too many class things except for the practicals for genomics and such. shannie and elynn are in 03, and alex and beng chyuan in 01. i will survive. *grin* it can't be that bad, at least there's sarah and jack in the same class.

s'a good timetable though, have wednesday off, and thurs only til 10am, but all four days start at 8am *blinks blearily* gross *grin* so monday morning on the first day of school's a write off then, since we're arriving sunday night.

other news, terry pratchett is coming to edinburgh for the book festival, i'm trying to get tickets to that, as well as a couple of other things in the actual edinburgh international festival. there's one wagner opera that i want to go try *grin* parsifal i believe. 5 hrs and 15 min. would've preferred siegfried, but that's not on til after i leave. also trying for the military tattoo, and some of the festival fringe acts. *bounce* that'll be fun! hope i get the last week or so off work. *crosses her fingers*
