random thought: they should bottle that scent you get when u just walk into a huge, swanky department store.. right into the cosmetics and fragrance section, and sell it as room fragrance *nod me*

today is not a particularly good day. i've got the sniffles, a pimple on my chin that refuses to go away, or to stop bleeding (sorry to everyone that grossed out), and to make things worse, it's a beautiful day outside. bah. i want the proper weather to match this mood, i.e. the weather i saw out of the train from london yesterday, mist so thick you could hardly see out, and the first good rain i've seen since i got here, thunder and people running into london kings cross station completely soaking wet. the roof was leaking in numerous places as well. brilliant.

london was disappointing. maybe we just didn't see it from the right point of view, or on a day when we were all in slightly better moods, but after spending a night in some godforsaken 'hotel' that was worse than the most isolated student hostel we've stayed in so far, we weren't the shiniest happiest people around. cheered up a bit on sunday morning when we trooped into a starbucks on oxford street and lounged around on those incredibly comfortable sofas talking loads of crap. while sipping a mocha frappucino with about half a bottle of chocolate powder added in, of course. didn't spend as much as expected, mainly because the only thing that caught my eye in selfridges was a pair of police shades costing 175, or about S$500. not quite that insane yet, but we'll see how it goes. tried on the chanel ones again and decided they made me look like andrew seow from growing up in those 80's tinted sunglasses. horrible turnoff. harrods was closed on sundays, which made us all a bit pissy. i mean, the biggest department store in london, and you're closed on sundays. like, hello? oh well, will be going there on the 30th for our last minute splurges. harrods, and selfridges, both made taka's whole building, (should that be ngee ann city?) look like one of those lego buildings. they both looked, for want of a better comparison, like fullerton hotel, only bigger. *drool*

also found the ferragamo store on a side street, which i shall bring peiyi to when we're next there. she still hasn't found the wallet she wants. think we'll end up getting it in duty free. didn't manage to go into the biggest topshop i've ever seen either. it was huge. that, and the 3 storey gap store we walked past. oxford st reminded me a lot of orchard rd, repeated stores ad nauseum. 4 gaps, not including baby gap, 3 kookai's, 2 shelly's, 2 karen millen's etc. didn't see a miss sixty though. bah.

3 weeks to go. decided won't be going to manchester next week, the thought of the 8 hour train ride just to see the grass which has been graced by the feet of man united kinda put me off. will be meeting peiyi in glasgow instead, my last time there. *sigh* then the lake district the week after, then it'll be my last week, then london and paris. then school. bah. but at least there'll be chicken rice again, and bubble tea, and satay, and roti prata, and hokkien mee. *drools*
