oh, -and-, the whole lab's going out for a pub lunch today, cos i'm leaving. (perhaps they're celebrating getting rid of me, but hey :p) *beam* glad I brought my camera.

the tattoo was awesome! it was definitely one of the most magnificent spectacles I've seen. it was just... *flaps hand wordlessly* indescribably brilliant. they had military bands from all over, Canada, the US Marines, Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, even one contingent on ancient-looking bicycles. And it was funny too, god it was funny. and i don't think i'll ever forget the bit where everyone linked hands and sang Auld Lang Syne to the music of at least a hundred Scottish pipers, at about 11pm at night, with the background of Edinburgh Castle, and an almost full moon. i'm just so glad i've seen it, and i'm going to endeavor to be in this region some other august in the future.

while jieru and i were walking along a path in Princes St Gardens, with the backdrop of the City Art Gallery and the Scott Memorial on the otherside, we decided that we really don't want to go home. The thing is, Edinburgh is such a beautiful city, it has to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Not to mention this particular month, where it's so vibrant due to the Festival and the Fringe. I love this place, I really do. And also, the people are so nice, as I've mentioned before, striking up conversations with you at the bus stop, on trains, in supermarket queues, and with that dry sense of humour that's just so missing at home. Last night while making our way back from the Tattoo, there was this policeman standing there smiling and saying good night to everyone that passed him. I don't wanna go hoooome! *whine*

Actually, none of the UK contingent want to go back. Everyone keeps reminding each other, don't worry, we're only going back for a year. Peiyi wants to go to the University of Birmingham, Xuefen to UMIST, I'd love to go to Aberdeen or Glasgow, but think i'll end up in Australia. *grin* But I suppose it just goes to show what my ex-English and Lit teacher, Mr Morgan told me 3 years ago, once you experience life outside Singapore, you won't want to go back. Not true in every case perhaps, but certainly in mine.

blah blah blah. i'm so bored you will not believe. been doing absolutely nothing except staring at the computer screen pretending to do my final report. well, it's not that bad, i did manage to finish about 2000 words of it, so i'm about half way through, but still! what an absolute bore.

shannie called me at 4am last night again, so i'm kinda sleepy this morning, not to mention jealous, since they're all off work and have 2 weeks break. bah. i'd rather have used this week to go travelling elsewhere, like other parts of france or spain or switzerland or something. *sigh* what an absolute pain.

oh well, on the bright side, i've only 2 1/2 working days to go, since i'm taking a half day on thursday and friday off, so it's not that bad i guess. time seems to be moving really slowly though.

had that concert last night, they did a really fantastic performance of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, the soloist was incredible. what's more, i was sitting in the organ gallery, which was where i suppose the choir sits when they have one, so we were behind the musicians, which was a rather unusual perspective which i quite enjoyed. usher hall, where it was held, was really impressive as well, all red plush seats and gold filigree. am going to see the edinburgh military tattoo tonight, according to my dad, it's really incredible, so i'm looking forward to it. :)
