hmm. having spent the whole of saturday whiling it away in bed with a succession of books and different snacks, i have a throbbing headache and an excess of apathy. also, having spent the last few hundred of my daily calorie expenditure on a particularly uninspiring piece of cheesecake (i know, cheesecake? uninspiring? it boggles the mind.), i seem to now feel that i need to yannoe... do something. anything. anything that is, that does not involve myself parking my arse on something and staring at a screen, (which rules out 3 main activities at last count). or at a book. (there goes another one.) excuse me, i think i'm off to the gym.

This weeks friday five:
(wherein summer=July, August, September)

1. How are you planning to spend the summer [winter]?

working. lol. hopefully with a little holiday somewhere in the midst of things.

2. What was your first summer job?

hrm. my first part time job was at mcdonalds when i was 14, but my first holiday job? i believe it was full time at the body shop, just after my O levels.

3. If you could go anywhere this summer [winter], where would you go?

anywhere? with price no object? the seychelles. staying at a suite in the banyan tree resort there. *swoon* because after all, realistically i expect myself to 'do' europe eventually, but that dream resort holiday? that's going to take a while, if ever, to come true.

4. What was your worst vacation ever?

umm. i can't really think of one, honestly. a vacation is a vacation is a vacation. lol. i've been fortunate enough not to have had any really thoroughly horrible ones, though there were not-so-good bits in a few of them, the good bits outweighed most of the rest. like, getting bad scratches on my back in sea world, florida, or that godawful 'hotel' in london, or being really, really badly sunburnt in australia once. for sea world, well, there was the rest of the holiday without exception. *laugh* the hotel in london? we checked out and found a really good hostel that was just as centrally located, and we stayed there again both before and after leaving for paris. and the sunburn? well, i got it while spending the whole day on a beach that's been voted into the top ten list of beaches time and time again, both in the region, and worldwide. every cloud.. and so on. :)

5. What was your best vacation ever?

eep, hard choice! prolly the entire attachment, though technically it wasn't a vacation. paris perhaps. or new zealand when i was a kid, since we got to ski and everything. or driving the entire length of malaysia with my mum and bro, really helped me to get to know him a lot better, since we don't really get much time together. or pick any one of my trips back to australia to spend time with my dad, especially the 'sunburn' one, where he was working as a skipper on a tourist boat, and i got to go out on the reef (yes, THE reef), for 3D2N, free. and go out in the dinghy, and watch the light from under the water where the other fellas were nightdiving, and looking up at the stars, so much brighter than they are here. *wistful sigh* i'm going back to airlie one of these days. (for those not in the know, i used to live there, and if you look at the map halfway down the page, my house was/is actually somewhere between airlie and proserpine. out in the ulu, as my dad used to say.)

mm, fish and zucchini and mashed potato for dinner. i'd be feeling that warm glow of health-consciousness if not for the fact that the fish was smothered in melted cheese. *slurp* anyway. yes, quick round up of the last week or so:

  • went out with annabelle

  • saw emmanuel et al perform at suntec

  • went to the travel agents with peiyi, hopefully that phuket or bintan holiday will be happening next month or the one after, looks more like phuket at the moment, peiyi's slightly put off by the prospect of paying in US $ for her booze in bintan. *snicker*

  • received word that i got a dip with merit (yay me) and the amersham biosciences award for, get this, outstanding performance in drug discovery and development. for those not in the know, this might sound a bit illicit, but trust me, it's all on the up & up. rather boringly so even. *grin* just, surprising, since it was taught by Dr Koh, and i've never thought i'd ever do well for one of his subjects, let alone top it. heh.

  • work will definitely be finishing end july, which means it'll be back to the hassle of finding another job. bleh.

  • mum said we'll prolly leave for australia in december, so the remnants of our nuclear family spend christmas together. which means, *gulp* 5 more months in singapore.

  • went shopping with peiyi, reinforced conviction that i must get that fcuk tshirt, which, as with all stuff that i fall in love with, isn't on sale. gah.

erm. that's all. okay, so it's not, but i'm not gonna sit here and wrack my brains trying to think of all the rest eh? heh.

been terribly busy lately, always having something or other on after work, so my email's been flooded and suchlike, so if any of you had mails bounced back to you, i'm sorry! it's (somewhat) cleared right now, so that should be alright for a day or so. not much time to update here, and not much -to- update, so all for now. :) more tomorrow! (no, really. :p)
