i'd post! really, i would! except i'm like, dead tired. from err.. studying, (well, in a sense anyway) with cath at harbourfront today, and then dinner and lots of conversation with jess at marche. ate too much. *grumble* and i have a backache. and basically ache all over. and i'm working tomorrow. bah!

ooh, and i managed to reply to a guys message on friendster! aren't y'all proud of me? the rest of them can carry on waiting though, i mean, what am i supposed to say anyway, right? lol. "err, hi. sorry, regardless of what it says on my profile about meeting guys for dates, i.. erm.. don't.. want to meet you. or anyone really. it's not personal." bad, y'know? maybe i should just go change it to 'in a relationship'. noone has to know it's with.. err.. hmm. volunteers?

well, waddya know, i ended up posting after all.

holy fucking shite, miss sixty has opened at heeren. i. am. screwed. there goes all my pay then. *sigh* maybe i should get it all deposited directly into my mum's account for safekeeping. the last time i stepped into a miss sixty i spent about 250 bucks, which isn't very much considering it's miss sixty, but still much more than i can afford. yikes. and well.. *shuffle* guess i'll be going down today before work to check it out. :p

sure, this sounds good, even rather inspiring in a way, especially when you read the part about the full BSc-PhD scholarship from a*star. then, you go to their website, and see this under eligibility:

Candidates should have at least 4 distinctions in relevant 'A' level subjects and preferably 2 'S' papers.

*growls* i know i'm chewing on the same old bone again, but honestly, can a poly graduate get any kind of official recognition in singapore? any? (i'm referring in this case to the science sector, since i can't really comment on the recognition for any other course.) if you're short of local researchers and you're trying to recruit and educate the best, it is completely shortsighted to write off a whole segment of the population at one shot. particularly a segment which is getting a reputation overseas for being extremely good students and for getting a high percentage of first class honours. (not to mention we'd get exemption from most overseas universities of around 2 years, making it cheaper, and also we have ample research experience, especially when compared to the A level students that they're targetting.)

they finally realised it over at NUS and NTU, when're they going to apply that to getting us into better universities than the 2 here, which have pretty pathetic life sciences courses? (of course, i was going to rant about NUS and NTU only realising it now; though it is a good step forward, they certainly took their time about taking it, but that was quite amply covered here. now give us exemptions so it's comparable to what we get elsewhere! greedy? i don't think so, when you're asking us to waste a further 2 years covering material we have already studied.) somewhere where they allow you to tailor your undergraduate modules in accordance with the kind of research you would like to do, like here, (according to my sources *grin*), as opposed to randomly allocating your courses or worse, making you ballot for them in a completely haphazard manner?

oh, fuck it. what difference is ranting on about it going to make? they're not going to change it, or if they do, certainly not within a timeframe that would include my year anywhere in there, so why bother? i'm leaving anyway. they can have their blasted A level students, and continue driving poly students overseas where they're treated like equals. (ooh, which brings me to one last thing. during the news coverage of the NUS/NTU issue, i overheard one guy saying that "poly graduates should not feel that they're second class citizens." well in which case, stop treating us like we are. simple.)

had an unexpected reprieve this morning, woke up at 6.30am, and had.. no energy. lol. cos i'd been working the night before, then met terrence for a while since he's going in this thurs to serve our country and all that. :p so yea, i was pretty bushed, but then fida, bless her heart, let me know i didn't need to go into work today. beautiful feeling i tell ya. so yea, i don't have work in the day til next week. wonderful. *bounce* except i miss the ice milo. lol.

which means i'd better get moving on my SAT preparation. *sigh* dr forday, in his infinite wisdom, told me to try for imperial college. do i look like dr koh material? jeez. spoke to my mum today abt moving to the UK, it's going to be tough, but i guess that's on the cards if i really don't get the UNSW scholarship. pretty daunting really. i'm reluctant to say when, since it's always being pushed back, but i guess either way i'm looking at a jan or feb departure...
