going to Sitex today, to check out my laptop and digital camera, both of which i can't afford. *grin* but! nevertheless, please all pray with me that i will not dropkick any small annoying children, (more because of the damage to my ankle than to the child, but still.), scream at their parents, or be too snarky to any sales assistants who're obviously more interested in talking to each other than assisting customers. ahh, the pressure to behave. *sigh*
then i'm working! again. heh. but luckily not til 2 today, because there's the staff party at midnight, so we're kicking everyone out early! yay! that is, unless people come in for the midnight football game, in which case, i shall bare my teeth at them very nicely and we shall all wait for them to leave. no doubt while some of the rest make very pointed comments. haha. i'm like, sooooo nice. comparatively. *grin* esp to the young boys that come in to watch soccer. like last night, the girl working with me was being very evil, said she always goes over and asks them very pointedly if they're going to start drinking yet. cos they always ask for ice water. then hot chocolate. *dies laughing* in a pub. :p but i left them alone, and even refilled their water? see? and people say i'm evil. *hurt look* and the bunch of old guys, who i've seen a few times before, always have pots and pots of hot tea, and eat Hall's sweets. what is up with that? sold very little alcohol yesterday. lol. and played with wax a lot.
but yes, staff party tonight. think that i shan't drink very much, cos i've heard they're only providing the draught beer. *makes a very disgusted face* and i'm not a beer person. and no bottles, so not even corona or hoegaarden available. bleh. iced lemon tea, methinks. haha. and there's a pool competition! for all the staff. and i suck. *grin* in fact, i think the last time i played pool was with cath, and the guy at the table next to us was sorta watching, then i think he couldn't take it already and he came over and offered to teach us the basics. hahahahaha. that was damned farnie. ohh, that was the time that cath got asked for ID there as well! *teases* whereas, *dryly*, according to many people, i look between 23 and 26. a LOT of people lately. very annoying. esp at the pub, they're like, eh? your birthday ar? how old? and i'm like, 20. then they gasp, or make some other shocked expression and say, "Is it? I thought you were 24, 25 lidat!"
*sigh*
okok, mum's hurrying me, and if i want her to spend money on me today, i'd better not keep her waiting! later! ;)
Now. When you live in Singapore, and it is the rainy season, and you know it is most likely going to rain, in fact, as you leave your house it is already starting to drizzle, what do you do?
wear black.
*nods sagely*
Today, on the way to work, I got completely, and utterly drenched. First, I drop by 7-11 to buy some batteries, and it's only drizzling ever so slightly. But the moment i leave to head to the busstop, it starts completely BUCKETING down.
*mutters*
And I'm wearing these incredibly slippery sandals and I can't run. (I'm not wearing eyeliner or mascara, precisely because of this eventuality, hence thankfully that can't run either. heh.) So I walk, nonchalantly, no less, through the pouring rain, get on a bus, and freeze. *pauses* Then two stops later it stops raining. *lips tighten into a thin line*
Subsequently, wanted to drop by HMV to get the Sugababes album, and between Paragon and Crown Prince Hotel, -just- as i'm typing the words, "Lucky it's not raining so heavily at Orchard" into my phone, it starts again. by the time i get to HMV I'm too drenched to care very much, and hardly notice the rain at all. So I wander in, drip all over the cds, purchase mine, and wander out into the deluge once again and walk to the pub.
Can anyone say drowned rat? *chorus of "drowned rat" from the back*
Thank you class, but that was more in the way of being a rhetorical question. Anyhow, as many people know, I have a decided aversion to wearing white. this is something that undoubtedly saved my hide today, as white shirts, black bras and heavy rain followed immediately by strong airconditioning, three times, *takes a breath*, is a very bad combination.
Hence, if you take one thing away today, it is..
*bored voice from the back* "Wear black?"
Well, yes. That, or carry a bloody umbrella.
*looks around and nods satisfiedly* Class dismissed.
*licks the last bits of icing sugar from around her mouth*
yum.
they bought an nydc cake cos it's kuwan yee and my last day. yummy! *prods tummy mournfully* the fates are against me. *grin*
going shopping with qiumei after this, yay yay yay! can't wait. want sooooooo many things. soooo many. which reminds me, anyone have any recommendations for good liquid eyeliners? and anyone have any strong feelings either way about M.A.C. mascara? ahh, the joys of shopping for my own birthday pressies with people. *bounce!*
think i shall get heels today... and maybe a skirt... and and and...
ooh, good sleep last night, finally. :) been a pretty good coupla days, so, starting from my birthday..
met up with daryl, supposedly to go get my birthday pressie, but i was too lazy to like, actually leave the house, so he ended up coming over instead for a bit, then i had to head down to work, and he went to hmv to spend the rest of his life savings. haha.
then when i did get to work, changed and everything, at the meeting they gave me the option of going home. wheee! cos, well, it's a long story, but we had one extra member of staff that night. so i hung out at the pub for a little, waiting for terrence to wake up and come down, and we had dinner there. played on that bloody addictive games machine for a while too. have a feeling quite a few dollar coins are going to go down that slot into oblivion. *sigh* :p but it was fun, esp when iris, aza, sarah and myself were all playing. *bounce* fun!
then had the usual looong conversation with terrence, confusing him no end with names he's never heard before because we meet much less now he's stuck in camp half the time. though not as long as usual, cos i had work the next day, which does not lend itself to 6.30am sleeping times. *grin* was lovely to see him again. kinda miss all the ngee ann people, haven't seen most of them in so long, and it's kinda weird how easily i lost touch with most people, besides peiyi and terrence, both of which i basically met in year 3. strange, that. oh well. can't really be helped. not like i actually have time to meet up with anyone. though, today, is the first day that i'm not working at all, either in the morning or evening, and i'm thrilled. can't remember the last time it happened.
